The nerd in me just got very happy

Just found this. And squeed a bit, I admit:

IMDb Character Pages!!
Austin Powers Take a look at our brand-new character page feature, just launched on the IMDb!! We've created distinct pages for your favorite characters, from the movies, TV, and more, and associated quotes, photos, a bio, and a filmography to each. One example of an iconic character from the contemporary film scene is that international man of mystery himself, Austin Powers. Played by Mike Myers, he's of course appeared in the three films bearing his name, but did you know Austin's also popped up in a Britney Spears video and made an appearance on the TV show "Mythbusters"? Read the announcement here to familiarize yourself with the new pages. After that, use the site's Search box above, and change the "All" drop down to "Character" to find the page for your favorite person or even your favorite creature. Please see our Character Help page for an overview of this new, exciting feature. It's smashing, baby!

Though I'm not going to look up Austin Powers anytime soon...

So I've been sitting here for more than an hour, trying to figure out how to do the best make over on my LJ. Still not happy though, mostly with the colours. Thought I could change them more than I actually could.
And now I realised that my Friends page still looks the same. *is tired* Well, I'll have to fix that another time.

Ehh.. no, now Friends page looks good.. (well, no it doesn't, but you know what I'm getting at). *is bewildered*

'Cuz everybody else is doin' it...

Your home is a

Magnate's Manor

Your kitchen is someplace you never go, because you "have people for that." There's a Chocolatessen, which is rapidly becoming your favorite room of the house. Having one is also becoming a trend among your wealthy neighbors. Your master bedroom is the size of a small barn, with carpet thick enough to reach your ankles. Your study has hardback editions of every classic ever written, plus a special edition of Rich Dad, Poor Dad with the parts you ghost-authored highlighted. One of your garages holds your collection of ferraris, and is measured in acreage.

Your home also includes a guest wing and private quarters for your servants. Outside is your hedge maze and gardens, meticulously tended by a team of world-class botanists.

Below is a snippet of the blueprints:

The rumour of my death is exaggerated... somewhat

Realised that I ended my last post with commenting that I just might kill myself over ageing. And then stopped posting for some three months. Not so clever.

Well, I'm not dead - just floating - and promise to try to read up on what you all have been up to lately.

Sorry for disappearing like that, but also, unfortunately - get used to it. For I do it all the time, I fear.

You Are What You Watch... Naked?

Just watched my 2nd ep of How To Look Good Naked. And me likey! :-D

Just watching it actually gives me energy to improve my own life, attitude and wardrobe (mostly a massive clean-up needed, there)! How crazy and wonderful is that! Normally, I have to watch one of my fav films or something to get that feeling. Not a reality show!
The only other one that does that to me is... another British fix-up-your-life-series: You Are What You Eat

I do believe I have some serious fixing-up to do in some very near future.

must write

And so I'm back!

...from outer space. I just walked in to find you here...

No, wait. Wrong song. Silly me.

Actually, I've been busy doing my last exam before the summer and then enjoying said summer. The whole week of it, ending tomorrow. Naturally, it's been raining pretty much the whole time. In fact, so much that several roads in our county was shut down due to flooding. Boy, it's nice to be able to stay indoors!

On Monday I'm starting my summer job at the book store. Five whole weeks of more than 100 % work. (I do Saturdays too). And then it's two more weeks of vacation for me. Yay! And then... it's back to school again.

Currently, I'm waiting for word on whether I've gotten in on my much needed last course to becoming a teacher or not. (I dunno if I fucked that last sentence up terribly, grammatically wise, but I'm suspecting I did. Anyhoo, I also dunno how to fix it, so let's just leave it at that and get on with this. Nobody is going to obsess about it, anyway. Well, except me, of course.) The course is going to last 1 ½ years, and is given in the next city from here. It takes like one hour or so from door to door, but I'm not used to having to do anything more than ride a city bus, if I'm too tired of riding my bike (which actually gets you downtown a lot faster), to school, so I've grown lazy. Also, I'm not too accustomed to doing so much more than showing up at lessons (and usually that rate goes downhill as the semester progresses) and then trying to somehow score some points at an exam, some X weeks later. I may have to do a bit more than that. I'm under the impression that presence at lessons is required. Hopefully I'm wrong.

On the up-side, a friend of mine has already offered to lend me her books, since she's already graduated from that program. On the down-side again, we're not going to be taking the exact same (part-)courses. And she didn't study in the same town (a.k.a. in the same university) as I'm going to. So there's little telling of how much her (acquired) literature will correspond with mine (so far un-acquired).

I wanted to spend this summer indulging in my life-long book obsession, but not so much have come out of that, sadly. I'm still not done with The Glass Key, maybe due to a little pause a few weeks ago, that sorta kinda tended to carry on... still. (sorry [info]snowystingray- I will finish it, I promise). In the mean time, I'm reading Lolita for the first time. And my God! how much work it was to find a copy of the original version (it is the English version that is the original, is it not?). They kept it in the cellar! *shakes head in disbelief* But, *my* book is printed in 1955 and that's always fun - I dislike those 1980s re-printed-for-the-ump-tenth-time-and-now-with-some-flashy-and-totally-ugly-cover books that I so often seem to stumble across in libraries (or book stores) when looking for "old" books.

Have any of you read it? I'd love to hear your thoughts about it! And ramble some more about it!

I kept hearing Jeremy Irons' voice in my head while reading (he's actually done a recording of it as an audio book, but I've never heard it. I'm just influenced by the film.), which used to disturb me first, but now I'm not sure if I want it to stop.  He's my newest obsession, you see. Alan's been put aside for the moment  (I'll get to him later) and I have done nothing but watching, talking about and breathing Jeremy Irons for the last past weeks. *sigh*

And once again happiness smiles at me. The wonderful and adorable Channel 9 (which I have rambled about before, while fangirling Sherlock Holmes and Jeeves and Wooster... of which the latter is still aired, I might add. *yays!*) is currently feeding giving me Brideshead Revisited every Thursday evening. The result? I think I want this on dvd for my birthday. So I can drool on repeat.
Also, some channel decided to show the Die Hards. Again. Probably to spark some interest in the 4th film in all of those who have been living under huge rocks lately. Like, say, the last past 19 years. Anyway, I'm going to see it.
And then my boyfriend, who is ever so sweet to the point of the unintelligible, went and downloaded Being Julia  without my even asking him or knowing about it. He also put up with my insist to see Chinese Box , which we did, and pursuing Damage, which we as of yet haven't seen, and my telling him that he absolutely must see The Lion King, since he never has. No hidden agendas, here. No, sir.

And... shit, I could ramble here all night long, and I still haven't said anything interesting. I'll consider putting up some pics or stuff tomorrow, if I feel like it. I usually think it's more fun to read posts with pics. So I'm gonna decide that you do to. But now I really have to go to bed.

Sorry for messing up everyone's f-page, btw. Just couldn't be bothered to put all this under an LJ cut. I'll behave in the future. I swear.

Figure being compared to Shakespeare can't be all bad...

Disclaimer: The idea of taking this test was ever so slighty inspired by [info]wiccagirl24. Heh.

Your Score: Orpheus

0% Extroversion, 100% Intuition, 72% Emotiveness, 100% Perceptiveness

You are an artist, an aesthete, a sensitive, and someone who has never really let go of that childlike innocence. To you, all of life has a sense of wonder in it, and the story of Orpheus was written about someone just like you.

When the Argo passed the island of the Sirens, Orpheus played a song more beautiful than the Sirens to prevent the crew from becoming enticed. When his wife died, he ventured into the underworld to charm Hades but, in his naivete, he looked back becoming trapped there.

You can capture your unique world view and relate it to others with the skill of a master storyteller. Your sensitivity and creativity make you a treasure to the human race, but your thin-skinned nature and innocence can cause you a lot of disenchantment and pain. What's doubly unfortunate is that, if you try to lose those traits, you never will, and everyone will be able to tell that you're putting up an artificial shell to prevent yourself from being hurt.

Famous people like you: Hemingway, Shakespeare, Mr. Rogers, Melville, Nick Tosches
Stay clear of: Icarus, Hermes, Atlas

Ehh... One hundred percent intuition..?! And look at my perceptive abilities! My God! Well, it gets pretty balanced out by the total and utter lack of any kind of wish to engage in and/or prospects at ever succeding at human - or other - communication, I suppose.

There you have it, my friends. I may were well be perfectly aware of all things you do and say, plus know exactly why you do and say them (or don't), but this knowledge will be forever hidden in the dark along with my superpowers - since I don't actually know how to behave like a normal person.

Wait... maybe there is some truth to this test, after all. *g*
